Tranmere progress to second round of Carabao Cup after 3 - 0 victory over Accrington Stanley

The SWA are through to the second round of the Carabao Cup after a triumphant 3 - 0 victory over Accrington Stanley at Prenton Park yesterday night!

Accrington started the first-half of football, but it didn't take long for Tranmere to take the lead. In just the third minuet of action, Harvey Saunders scored to shoot Rovers into a 1-goal advantage. The goal came from the left, where Patrick Omari passed the ball to Saunders who shot it in the goal past the keeper.

It remained 1 - 0 to Rovers until the 45th minuet, just before half-time, when Tranmere were awarded a free-kick. It was hit into Stanley's 2-man wall, but the ball landed in front of Josh Williams, who shot towards the Accrington net. The ball deflected off of a Stanley player straight into the right-hand side, and Rovers had a 2-goal lead.

Rovers were awarded a penalty in the 68th minuet of the second-half, after Patrick was tripped by a Stanley player in the penalty box. Brad Walker stepped-up to take the spot-kick, but the penalty was saved by Accrington's goalkeeper, Michael Kelly.

However, 3 minuets later Accrington had a free-kick. Stanley crossed it into Rovers penalty box but it was headed away. It landed with an Accrington player, but he took to heavy of a touch and Tranmere were able to start a counter-attack. Sol Solomon & Omari Patrick ran towards the Stanley net 2 vs 1 against an Accrington defender, Solomon played the ball to Patrick who calmly hit it into the goal to make it 3 to Rovers.

Not to long after referee Scott Simpson called for full-time, and Rovers progressed to the second round of the Carabao Cup.
